i just got back from 2 weeks in Barcelona, and let me tell you it was the time of a lifetime. soo many memories.

but now i am starting to freak out about make up work. i have 2 lacrosse games this week and 2 weeks worth of homework. it will be super stressful. but i admit that any amount of stress was worth the time i had in spain. it was absolutly amazing.

Everyone has their flaws. Everyone needs some “medicine” to fix, or attempt to fix, these flaws. Although all of us could all of the medicines to help make us better people, I chose the ones that were most beneficial to the way I live. I could have chosen all fifteen, but instead I decided to focus on five that are relevant to me: Humility, Patience, Humor, Courage, and Strength.

When I first looked at the fifteen different amulets to choose from, humility really stood out to me because it is something that I have truly never worked on in my life. I don’t think of myself as a “cocky” or flashy type person, but I think that is a little different from humility. To be honest, I don’t think I completely understand what a person with humility is. But I know that this talisman is the one that I have spent the least time on.

Patience is something that we all, as the human race, need to work on. It amazes me how impatient other people can be. But that is a very bad case of hypocrisy because I know other people think of me as an impatient person. The key to patience is to put yourself in the other persons shoes. If you know that they are doing their best to get something accomplished, then you can’t become impatient with them. But, sometimes I think we all need to uphold a higher level of patience with one another.

Humor is something that I hold very close to me. I always say that my goal in life is to have fun, in one way or another. Whats the point of being on earth if your not going to enjoy it? I enjoy myself most through laughter and humor. Although I am not the funniest dude on Earth, I think that I have a very keen sense of humor. The great part about humor is that every single person has their own take on it. Different people find different things humorous. So in a way, we all have a perfect sense of humor in our own minds. (that probably made no sense)

Courage is the fourth amulet that I found. I think most people correlate courage to physical actions of bravery. But I like to think of courage as more of a mental bravery. As kids, we can’t be afraid to venture outside of our little box and test out some other waters. We cant be afraid to make our own path, something that i am very bad at. Sometimes i find myself just going with the flow when i need to be the one that makes his own diversion. Strength was the last talisman that I found. This is very closely related to courage. It takes a strong person to break apart from the crowd. Basically it takes a strong person to be courageous.

worst week ever

Posted on March 22nd, 2009 in Uncategorized by zpl08

so the week after i write a post about the best week of the year, i had the worst week of the year. It was my birthday, so that was cool. but that was the only high point (and it wasnt even a good bday). On saturday morning, i woke up and find my front door of my car open, and my pants in the front seat. The wallet was missing from the pants. The license and debit card were missing from the wallet.  so now I have to find time to go to the bank and BMV cuz i have to those before i leave for spain on saturday.

after that fiasco, i go to school to hop on the bus to go to cincinnati for a lacrosse tournament. we had to play 8 games in 2 days. it sucked

but then i get home tonight and start to get ready for homework, and realize that those dirty batsards stole my backpack as well. every single book i own is in there (including the sparrow). so now i cant study for the 4 tests i have this week. Well i gotta go, a police officer just knocked on my door to interview me…

I am sure that you have heard that Kairos is an amazing experience, and I 100% agree with those people. I’m not gonna get all deep and tell everyone what I learned, but I just want everyone to know that they definitely need to go on a Kairos. Everyone at Brebeuf needs to go at some point, or else your Brebeuf experience isnt complete.

college trips

i dont understand why colleges make their tours so boring. I mean i understand that we need to see the campus, but cant they make it a little more fun? It would be awesome if they gave you free membership to the rec center for one day. Or let you swim in their olympic sized diving arenas. Or give you as much food as you want. Or give you free shirts. Or a gift certificate to the bookstore. All of these are great ideas that need to be implemented. I dont mind visiting colleges, but I always feel disappointed by the end of a tour with how boring it was.

Life Plan

After years of contemplating, I have finally figured out what my future in life is going to entail. I am going to move to hawaii, buy a beat up RV, park it on a sweet beach, and start an epic ukulele band. With me on the vocals and ukulele. Some fat hawaiians on the steel drums and triangles. My band will probably play horrible music, but everybody will love us.
